Windows WSL Setup

We do not provide support for issues encountered in a WSL environment. If you run into problems, please resolve them independently or switch to the VMware virtual environment.

The recommended environment is WSL2 with Debian 13 (trixie). If you already have an Ubuntu WSL installation, it should work without issues in principle.

To install Debian specifically:

wsl --install Debian

For WSL2 installation instructions, see the Microsoft guide. We also recommend the official WSL environment setup guide.

Then use the apt package manager to install the dependencies:

$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install openjdk-21-jdk llvm-19 clang-19 git make gzip flex bison

If the console reports that llvm-19 and clang-19 cannot be found, try the following commands:

wget -O - https://apt.llvm.org/llvm-snapshot.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://apt.llvm.org/$(lsb_release -cs)/ llvm-toolchain-$(lsb_release -cs)-19 main"
sudo apt update
sudo apt install clang-19 llvm-19
